Mohi-ud-din Islamic Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Mirpur, AJK Realizing the importance of the Pharmacy education, the University established Mohi-ud-din Islamic Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in September, 2009, at Mirpur AJ&K. The 5 years Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D) program is now under consideration for recognition by Pharmacy Council of Pakistan. First inspection of the institute by Pakistan Pharmacy Council was conducted on June 19, 2010. The program operates on annual system following curriculum as prescribed by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) & Pharmacy Council of Pakistan (PCP). The program of study will provide students with core knowledge, skills, abilities, attitudes and values which are essential to the provision of Pharmaceutical education and is analogous with medical and nursing care. The program comprises didactic material, laboratory courses, and provides practical experience in patient care environment. The overall curriculum is structured to provide instructions in the following core areas: biomedical sciences (including anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and biostatistics); pharmaceutical sciences (including medicinal chemistry, pharmacognosy, pharmacology, toxicology and pharmaceutics); behavioral, social, and administrative pharmacy sciences (including health care economics, pharmacoeconomics, practice management, communications applicable to pharmacy, the history of pharmacy, ethical foundation to practice, social and behavioral application and laws pertaining to practices); pharmacy practice (including prescription processing) compounding and preparation of dosage forms, drug distribution, drug administration and clinical pharmacokinetics. |
